TiVo Upgrade

Coming Soon: Girlfriend TiVo so you can pause, rewind, and delete arguments.Endless TiVo space has finally arrived. I just got a new bigger hard drive for my TiVo and now I have 4 times the recording capacity!

I ordered the drive from company in California called AmblerTech.com that does TiVo Upgrades and the hard drive arrived a few days later. It came with detailed instructions, including pictures for my unit, and I installed it in about 20 minutes. Being as I’m very protective of my TiVo, I was a little nervous to apply any pressure to open the case, but their tech support walked me right through slipping the screw driver into the back bottom corners and the case slid right off.

After that, it was just a couple screws and plugging in a couple wires. I went with the “A Drive Upgrade” in case anything went wrong, so I have my old hard drive sitting on my shelf. Next step was quickly running the guided setup, and then adding Season Passes….only this time in Best Quality and Keep Until I Delete.

I plan on keeping the whole 4th season of Sopranos on my TiVo now, so if you’re in the neighborhood…

Internetseer is the devil

I apologize to everyone that got an email from internetseer reporting that buzolich.com had broken links. Actually, I restructured part of my website when I moved it to my Linux server, and they are comparing old links to links that have moved.

My advice for email from internetseer, and all spam for that matter, delete it and NEVER reply back. Spammers will use your reply as acknowledgement that your account is active.

In response to this, I have made all blog comment fields optional. Your name is nice, but I usually know your email address. If you would like to leave an email address for me to get back to you, please use an address that is not your work address. For example, I use my yahoo address for all web related fields, and protect my other accounts from spammers by only giving them to friends.

Again my apologies.

Great DVD Player

I bought my first DVD player this week from Crutchfield.com. It’s the Sony DVP-NC655P. It has a five disc changer that plays DVD, CD, VCD, CDR, and MP3 CDs.

Playing MP3 CDs is the second best feature after playing DVDs. You can burn over a hundred songs on one CD and the player reads the files for titles to display on the screen.

As usual, the Sony remote is top notch, and when I get a wide screen TV, this DVD player supports progressive scan.

First in Google

I’ve finally secured the first entry in the google listings for a search for “buzolich“. I did it without using any googlebombing, meta-words, or any other gimmicks. Simple minds are easily amused.

New Indecorum Section

Maybe I’m just kidding myself by thinking that buzolich.com is somehow a high class site or more likely I’m afraid what my parents will say, but I’ve added a new section: Indecorum. When I get a good joke, or run across something that makes me laugh, I’ll steal it and post it in there. I’m not that creative, I don’t write these jokes or design the flash, I just make them available.

Other good news: buzolich.com will hopefully be switching to my new linux box. Got order confirmation from Walmart today!

Editor’s Note: What a flash back, that linux box was a few servers ago.

Slammers

Yesterday in the mail I got a notice from VeriSign with the following:

Domain Name Expiration Notice
Reply by: June 20, 2002

I stuck me as odd that I was getting a renewal notice so quickly, I just bought the buzolich.com domain in January….and wait, I registered with EasyDNS.com, not VeriSign. This is pretty shady.

I’ve read posting about how companies are basically stealing your business when acting like a renewal notice. They do disclose in step three that you need to “Sign the form to authorize payment and transfer to VeriSign.” The first time through I missed the transfer part and I was looking for it.

There are too many companies using spam and posing like something they aren’t so it must be working…or tricking a lot of people. It’s pretty rare to get a real deal in the mail or via spam….I would have just throw the letter away if I wasn’t interested in writing an entry about it. In that vein, how do I get credit card companies to stop sending me credit cards? They don’t seem to care that I’m rather unemployed right now…

VeriSign has lost any future business I would have given them.

Editor’s Note: All domain registrations are now done with godaddy.com

Hot Pants

I’d like to thank Kramer for the idea of putting my pants into the oven to warm them up. I wouldn’t have done it if not for the fact that all of my clothes were still damp from the wash. Cold jeans suck, but warm jeans….

I sure miss the dryer at Chez Hugo, almost as much as I miss the “Hoolie” calls early on a Saturday morning.

Nuclear Powered

It’s the tail. It wags and wags and wags….We have a new rating for Cali, it is similar to the quarterback rating of touchdowns over interceptions.

Doggie Bonus = (cute girls drawn over) / (accidents in the house)

So far Cali is pretty far below 1, but she’s on the board!

Yes Dear

There is something soothing about watching the wisps of fog roll across the housetops in San Francisco. We had a warm, sunny day in Los Altos Hills with Sam’s family. We spent Easter coloring Easter eggs and then hunting for ones filled with candy. Dinner was lamb with mint jelly, asparagus, and potatoes with the optional ranch dressing (Thanks John). Arlene was nice enough to introduce me to a little deer named, “Yes”….I think we’ll be having an interesting relationship.

Many thanks to the Melens for a great Easter and to Chez Hugo for a great weekend. New York is supposed to be very nice in the spring… 🙂

Flip Side

Out on the West Coast this weekend. It’s nice to be back at Chez Hugo and see the boys. Wonder where Hoolie was last night? Planning on a good long hike to a waterfall and hopefully some nice beach time and kite flying. Kendall was a big fan of getting a dog. That makes the count: Lab 1, Sara 0.
